We were contacted because this client was being charged over $300 PER MONTH for HOSTING & Maintenance, but the “maintenance” was not being done. When we asked about it, the other agency stated (via email) that the theme was out dated, so they simply couldn’t update the website without risking a crash, so they continued their steep charges to the client without doing the work. The php (base code for WordPress) version was so old that WordPress had retired it two years before. We rebuilt the entire site so that they could feature advertising spots with a cleaner and updated design and included hosting and actual maintenance for less than what they were paying at their old agency. We also helped migrate hundreds of posts for free as part of this deal because of what they had been through. The old agency had added 47 plugins to their website. This is a huge lift for the server, especially because the theme was outdated by two years and the base code was no longer supported by wordpress. Their new site? 14 plugins.
This company needed a way for clients to continue advertising with them so that their business still functioned while also having access to decades of images. The former agency hosted these photos on a cloud server that was tied to the agency account instead of a client account, so they could not easily transfer the 1.4 million images they’ve attianed through the years. We performed this migration for free and helped guide the other agency through the complicated cloud code demands and permissions to allow this transfer so that this client did not lose their data.
Over the course of 3 weeks, we provided project management for the migration, and corrected the line of code with the permissions error that the other agency had set. The file transfer took 45 minutes.
